Located in a quieter, pedestrianized part of Mayfair, Iran Restaurant is easily accessible from Green Park Tube station.
The outdoor seating is a far better option than the somewhat cramped indoor space, offering a more pleasant dining experience. Tables are covered with red cloth and topped with glass, adding a traditional touch.
As expected for Mayfair, prices are on the higher side”starters cost £12.50-£15, while mains are around £50 or £80 for two.
We started with baba ganoush and mirza ghasemi (a smoky aubergine and tomato dish with egg and herbs). Both were excellent, especially paired with the crisp flatbread. However, the Shirazi salad (cucumber, tomato, and onion) was average”fresh but unremarkable.
For mains, the mixed grill kebab platter was underwhelming. The marinated minced lamb and chicken were dry, and the meat quality didn’t quite justify the price. The lamb fillet was the best part of the dish. We originally ordered the chicken in walnut and pomegranate sauce, but they were out, so we went with the saffron chicken with pomegranate rice instead. Thankfully, it turned out to be excellent”flavourful and well-balanced.
Service started off a bit tense, but after ordering, the staff warmed up. By the end of the meal, they even served complimentary Iranian tea, which was a nice touch.
Overall, while some dishes impressed, the inconsistent food quality and service made it a mixed experience, pleasant enough but not quite worth the high prices.

Food is tasty. Service is very good and welcoming staff. The only negative thing is overpriced. It is very expensive as compared to other restaurants in London that I have visited.

This is an authentic Iranian restaurant that serves fresh, homemade-style food. Every time I visit London, I make it a point to stop by and enjoy their Iranian mixed grill with saffron rice. The staff is welcoming, and unlike many other London restaurants, there’s no need for reservations or waiting on a long queues. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking delicious Iranian cuisine. Be sure to ask for Ramaz, who will guide you through the menu and provide excellent assistance.

Amazing food and incredible friendly service. Some of the best Persian food I’ve ever had.
The portions are very generous, ordered a chicken soup, and a lamb chop & kebab dinner for 2, it probably could have servers 4!
The lamb chops were perfectly cooked, our server, Ramiz recommended getting them Medium-Well and he knew what he was talking about! They were absolutely perfect. The kebab was tender and flavourful as well. Again, maybe the best I’ve ever had.
Somehow managed to finish it all, mainly just because I couldn’t stop eating!
Would definitely recommend.
